Soundproof doors for modern buildings
A recent ETH study (2025), commissioned by the Federal Office for Housing, shows that new housing is increasingly being created by adding extra storeys, replacing existing buildings with new ones and converting existing buildings. Existing buildings are therefore being densified, extended and adapted to new uses.
Higher requirements for sound insulation
Whether it is focused work in offices, confidential discussions in meeting rooms, quiet learning environments in schools, protected areas in hospitals or peaceful spaces in residential buildings, sound insulation now plays an important role in almost all types of buildings. Where conventional soundproof doors reach their limits, RWD Schlatter offers specially developed high-performance soundproof doors with sound insulation values of up to 50 dB. They are suitable, for example, for recording studios, concert halls, cinemas, lecture halls or other areas where noisy and quiet zones are directly adjacent to one another.
In addition to technical properties, design aspects also play an important role. All RWD Schlatter soundproof doors are made to measure and can be individually adapted to the architectural requirements of a project. A range of surfaces is available, including veneers, HPL coatings and numerous colour options. This allows high sound insulation requirements to be combined with a harmonious interior design.
The entire door system is crucial
The sound insulation of a door is not determined by the door leaf alone. Door frames, seals, fittings and professional installation are equally important. Only when all components are optimally coordinated can the required sound insulation values be achieved on a lasting basis. For this reason, RWD Schlatter soundproof doors are tested and assessed as a complete system. Even small leaks or signs of wear can significantly reduce sound insulation performance. Regular maintenance helps to ensure long-term functionality and maintain the certified performance values over time.
Tested quality and sustainable production
At its headquarters in Roggwil TG, RWD Schlatter has its own sound testing facility. This enables different door systems to be measured. All tests are carried out by experienced specialists in accordance with the applicable testing standards. In addition to technical performance, RWD Schlatter places great importance on resource-efficient production. This includes energy-efficient processes, recycling and, on request, the use of sustainably produced, PEFC-certified wood.
