Protection against fire and smoke
Fire doors and smoke protection doors are functional doors designed to help prevent the spread of fire and smoke within a building or between two rooms, or to slow it down as much as possible. They are an important part of fire protection and can be used in different types of buildings, such as residential properties, office and commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, industrial facilities, etc.
A fire protection door or smoke protection door is designed to achieve a specific fire resistance rating (EI30, EI60, EI90, etc.) in the event of a fire, thereby preventing the passage of fire and smoke for a certain time. A door’s fire resistance rating is determined by its ability to withstand heat and flames.
It is important that fire doors and smoke protection doors are regularly maintained and checked for proper functioning to ensure they perform optimally in an emergency. Correct installation and the use of approved fittings (systems tested as a whole) are also crucial to ensuring the best possible security. Overall, fire doors and smoke protection doors are a vital part of fire and smoke protection and can save lives and minimise property damage in an emergency. Furthermore, fire protection is a legal requirement.

Labeling
Every fire protection door or smoke protection door must be permanently marked by the holder of the approval. The marking is applied to the hinge side of the door leaf edge using a label. The information on the plate serves to ensure the traceability of the approval holder’s name, the approval number (VKF number) and the classification. We have included additional information on the label for clear door identification: QR code, year of manufacture, order number/position and door number. Fire doors with additional properties such as smoke protection S200 are tested in accordance with EN 1634-3.
Function combination
Fire protection and smoke protection doors fulfil a key security function in buildings. However, door systems often need to do more than only keep out fire and smoke. Thanks to our bespoke service and intelligent construction, different security functions can be combined in a single door – for example, fire protection and smoke protection with sound insulation.
Whether in public buildings, commercial premises or residential areas – multifunctional doors offer a bespoke solution that combines different requirements in a single element. This results in efficient, secure and sustainable spatial concepts.
Development & Innovation
Doors are more than simple room dividers - they fulfill important functions in terms of safety, comfort and efficiency. At RWD Schlatter, we are constantly working to further develop the possibilities of doors. Through innovative technologies and precise workmanship, we not only optimize existing functions, but also constantly add new features.
Particularly in tailor-made projects, specific customer requirements repeatedly give rise to ingenious details that go beyond the standard. These tailor-made solutions are incorporated into our further developments - and often find their way into our regular range. This results in doors that not only meet individual requirements, but also set new standards for functionality and innovation.
Environmental protection
We pay attention to resource-conserving and environmentally conscious production. On request, we use particularly sustainable materials such as PEFC-certified wood. This is complemented by energy-efficient production and consistent recycling of all waste. RWD Schlatter attaches great importance to sustainability - in every step of the manufacturing process.
Maintenance
It is important that fire protection doors and smoke protection doors are regularly maintained and checked to ensure they are in good working order, so that they function reliably in an emergency.
