The complete refurbishment of the Grabengut Ice Sports Centre in Thun will start in spring 2025 and will be carried out in two construction phases, concluding by the end of 2026. The project involves the modernisation of the synthetic ice rink and the curling hall, as well as the replacement of outdated building services. Architecturally, a translucent polycarbonate curtain wall defines the building’s appearance, evoking the image of ice surfaces whilst also providing insulation against heat, light and noise. Technically, the centre features energy-efficient insulation, modern ice-making technology and sustainable building services. The total cost amounts to 28.5 million Swiss francs.
