The Winterthur Vocational College is set to have a modern new building by December 2026, with construction due to start in February 2024. The building will comprise 40 classrooms, a triple-purpose sports hall, a cafeteria, as well as areas for administration and communal use. The sustainable construction, featuring a wood-concrete composite structure and a solar PV system, meets the Minergie-P-ECO and SNBS Gold standards. The atrium provides day light and communal areas, whilst the connection to the district heating network enhances energy efficiency. The new building will centralise educational provision and optimise the use of space near the Wiesental and Mühletal sites.
