PU edge

PU chamfered edges are made of a resistant two-component polyurethane-based material. They are applied directly to the door edge using the injection moulding process. This creates a seamless, durable junction with the door leaf. This robust chamfered edge can only be used on HPL surfaces. It is particularly suitable for ranges with a high level of mechanical stress, e.g. in hospitals, schools or public buildings. PU chamfered edges offer effective protection against splices, impacts and everyday loads.

The PU edgeband for durable use

PU edgebands impress with their hard-wearing surface and hygienic finish. They are scratch-resistant, abrasion-resistant, non-porous and resistant to many chemicals; ideal for demanding environments such as hospitals, laboratories or educational establishments. The 4 mm thick edge is applied to HPL door leaves by injection molding and is available in various standard colors. Individual color requests are also possible for larger quantities.

Properties
  • Impact resistant, robust
  • Scratch resistant
  • Abrasion resistant
  • Non-porous and easy to clean

Edge finishes

PU edgebands can be applied to either three or four sides of single or double-leaf door elements. The rebate geometries are fixed.

Colors
  • Similar to RAL 9016 Traffic white
  • Similar to RAL 7035 light gray
  • Similar to RAL 7016 anthracite

Other RAL and NCS colors can also be mixed for larger order quantities. Due to possible color differences between the surface and the edges, the use of alternative or complementary colors is recommended. Color differences between the door leaf surface and the door leaf edge, even with identical color tones, do not constitute a defect and RWD Schlatter rejects any liability in this regard.

Sash dimensions
  • Length: 800 - 3000 mm
  • Width: 350 - 1600 mm
  • Thickness: 40 - 80 mm
Cleaning

No solvent-based, strongly acidic, alkaline or abrasive cleaning agents should be used to clean PU edgebands, as these can damage the surface. The use of scouring pads, abrasive fleece, steel wool or scrapers should also be avoided. Regular cleaning is recommended to maintain the quality and appearance of the surface in the long term. For light soiling, it is sufficient to wipe the PU edging with a soft, damp cloth - ideally with a microfiber cloth, which is particularly suitable for coated surfaces. For heavier soiling, a neutral cleaner such as standard dishwashing detergent (pH value 7-8) diluted in warm water can be used. After each cleaning, the surface should be wiped with a dry cloth to completely remove any remaining moisture and thus support the longevity of the surface.
